Strong, lightweight and proven, C-Tech Sail battens are a premium range of hollow, rectangular, composite sail battens designed for yachts 20ft in length up to the largest superyachts.
C-Tech can provide both stock and custom-made battens with laminates to suit yacht/sail/stiffness/bend combinations. There are standard sets for most classes.
Race optimised C-Tech sail battens are manufactured using a mandrel wrapped production system and the highest quality pre-preg materials. We blend a variety of different modulus carbon and s-glass fibres to maximize strength while minimising weight.
Our perfectly balanced battens are designed with the most effective fibre orientation and placement. Custom software allows laminate layers to be adjusted to tailor stiffness and daft positions to meet specific sail requirements.
C-Tech’s male moulded battens have advantages over female moulded battens. C-Tech’s manufacturing process avoids the need for a vulnerable and often asymmetrical join down the length of the batten. Design is not constrained by an external mould surface so fibres can be placed the correct distance from the neutral axis for optimal results.
Our unique design process combined with consistent resin to carbon ratio’s, achieved by using the highest quality pre-preg materials, allows repeatability and enables us to hit target stiffness and draft with incredible accuracy.
Quality certainty is assured with all C-Tech SailBattens. Bend tests are performed on every batten to ensure correct camber and stiffness using a three point bend test. This information is then confidentially stored in C-Tech’s secure database, each batten has a barcode so individual battens can be reproduced or tweaked for the next stage in development.
Our CT22 range is designed for Monohulls 20-60ft and Multihulls 20-40ft. Standard and custom made options are available. This batten range is popular with TP52’s, fast 40’s, 60ft performance Cruisers, GC32’s and figaro.

Dry spectra sock can be applied to the outside of a finished batten. The spectra sock is attached with double-sided tape and fixed at each end using tough heat-shrink rubber.
In the rare event of a breakage, C-T Sailbattens a Spares Kit can be used to repair battens at sea or in port. A spares kit can be ordered in case repairs are needed for offshore sailing.
In some cases, battens may need to be made with joins at shorter lengths than normal. This can be done on request (may depend on batten design).
