 Sergio Tacchini

Sadly, the ORMA 60 circuit, raced around ports in Europe, has been disbanded. However there are still a number of these exciting multihulls still racing.

Sergio Tacchini, skippered by Karine Fauconnier, is just one of the many ORMA 60s that used CT33 full carbon sail battens from C-Tech.

Groupama 3

Both Groupama 2 (ORMA 60) and Groupama 3 (103ft VPLP) use full carbon CT Sailbattens. The size of the battens differs markedly between the two multihulls:

- Groupama 3 uses CT40 battens (designed specifically for very large multihulls)

- Groupama 2 carries light-weight CT33 battens.

 Cheyenne

A special set of double battens was designed to meet the rigors of round-the-world sailing on Cheyenne, a yacht that has traditionally been very hard on sail battens. 2 identical battens were manufactured and glued together. The join provided a shear-web and effectively doubled the strength of the battens.
