All CT36 carbon sail battens are custom-made to meet design specifications or to suit the yacht for which they have been ordered. Once batten design is complete accurate information on batten size, weight and stiffness can be provided. Batten sectional size varies depending on:

mandrel selection
taper (changes with batten length)
laminate thickness

The chart below has been compiled to provide basic size, weight and stiffness information for typical battens in the CT36 range.

Batten Code: Mandrel sizes are represented by the D-dimension at the leech. They are shown in the Batten Code column as: CT36-15, CT36-20

Luff Size: Sizes given are a minimum and are based on bare batten material
- add +1.0mm for kevlar over-braiding
- add +5.0mm for rubber boot (boom-furling battens only)
- battens can be built to a standard luff size (e.g. 19mm x 36mm)

Leech Size: Sizes given are a minimum and are based on bare batten material at a length of 8.2m. Dimensions will be larger on battens longer than 8.2m. Please enquire for a size estimate.
- add +1.0mm for kevlar over-braiding

Average EI: This figure is calculated from a 3-pt bend test and represents the overall average stiffness of the batten.

Maximum Length: The maximum 1-piece batten length is as shown. Battens provided in longer lengths will have a join at 8.2m. A second join is available at 16.4m if required.
